Shell
In SolidWorks, the shell feature is used to create a hollow part from a solid part. The shell feature
removes material from the inside of the part and leaves a shell with a specified thickness. This
feature can be useful when designing parts that need to be lightweight or have a hollow area for
functional or aesthetic purposes

Some of the uses and advantages of the shell feature in SolidWorks are:
- Lightweight Design: The shell feature allows you to remove material from the inside
of a part, resulting in a lighter and more efficient design. This is especially useful in
industries such as aerospace and automotive, where weight reduction is a major
consideration.
- Aesthetics: The shell feature can be used to create parts with a hollow area, which
can give a more aesthetic appearance to the part. This can be useful in industries such as
consumer products, where appearance is a major factor in the design.
- Cost-Effective: Shelling a part can be a cost-effective way to create a part with a
hollow area, as it can be faster and more efficient than creating a separate part and
assembling it.
- Customizable Thickness: The shell feature allows you to specify the thickness of the
resulting shell, which can be customized for different parts and applications.
- Easy to Modify: The shell feature is easy to modify, allowing you to make changes to
the thickness or shape of the shell as needed without having to start over from scratch.
